Greetings, My letter serves to document the innate creativity of Leila Barbara of ‘The Orchidstrators’. A bedroom with a sad attempt at the ‘rustic look’ was transformed into a breathtaking sanctuary under her supervision. My new bedroom is now beautiful and accommodates my needs. Leila was the project manager, orchestrating the carpenters, painters and organizing company. My input was selecting the ceiling fan and bedding colors, painting the bureau black, and requesting something ‘different’ for the ceiling. Leila knew I wanted a meditative setting. With just that to go on and a slim budget Leila worked her magic! She has the ability to capture your vision, no matter how vague, and bring it to life. Creative use of paint gave a fresh look to old lamps and cabinet. Very economical. Her first inspiration was to staple rolls of reed to the ceiling painted dark tan. Bamboo was used as trim to finish the look. Instant tranquility! This was a very tricky project since the ceiling lift track could not be removed. A black wooden screen is a beautiful camouflage for my powerchair and charging equipment. Hidden from view yet easily accessed when needed. The closets are beautiful to look at yet functional and organized. Baskets with handles hide toiletries, etc. All essentials are, for the first time, within my reach. And finally, a nightstand I can use! The 2 drawers are up on legs with clear space underneath for my feet. Now I can face what I’m getting instead of needing to turn sideways. I have never had or even seen such a beautiful room. Every day I appreciate its mood. Awake in the middle of the night? No problem, I marvel at the darkened room, breathe in its serenity and drift off to sleep in minutes. The atmosphere and convenience of my room has touched every facet of my life in some way. It is a place to gather strength and balance. It is miraculously accessible so I face fewer frustrations on a daily basis. And just as important, the organized closet enhances my peace of mind. It’s absolutely amazing! You will be thrilled with The Orchidstrators’ work, of that I’m certain.
Enthusiastically,
Mary Twohey
